How to get your customers coming back for more. I have written a tips booklet on the topic. Priced at just £9.99 it gives you 101 tips on how to ensure you’re offering great customer service.
We all know how important good customer service is
We all appreciate how important good customer service is. Most businesses operate within a competitive market place. Consequently you have to be better than them. If your products or services aren’t clearly better than anyone else’s or your prices aren’t lower, then the differentiator becomes service. And actually, you might as well aim to be better on service regardless of your pricing or your product / service quality.
It’s also important to appreciate that for your team (if you’re their manager) or for yourself, you might as well aim to be the best you can be. That way you get more job satisfaction and you feel better about yourself.
How this tips booklet came about
There are 3 tips booklets available through the To Market shop.
- How to find the good guys. A recruitment aid if you’re looking to build your team. Written in conjunction With Eloise Shelton of Vanilla Recruitment.
- How to find a good telemarketing partner. Ideal if you want to outsource some lead generation / appointment setting or telemarketing work
- How to get your customers coming back for more. This one, on customer service
As part of the interactive work To Market does with customer service teams, we run an exercise where I ask the delegate group to start talking about customer service that they like and also what they don’t like. We record these 2 lists and for a while I kept the lists with the intention of building a master list of all the things the professionals like and dislike. The beauty is of course that all of us in our businesses are customers in the rest of our lives. On Friday night in the fish & chip shop, on the phone to Sky, in the Apple store and in your car dealership when booking your car in for a service or repairs.
Therefore this tips booklet of 101 short, concise and clear points is a list produced by a set of people who work as customer service professionals. Let’s give you a flavour of some of the things within this booklet. Pick some numbers at random
23. Do something. It is only ever what you do that counts, not what you plan to do. So ensure that you’re action orientated and focused on getting things done.
39. Don’t be over attentive. As customers you don’t like it when people hassle you. You like to form your own opinions and make your own decisions. Remember that your customer likes to buy, they don’t necessarily like being sold to.
41. Don’t mistrust your customer. Even if they are wrong or you think they are, stay focused on the goal. Displaying your mistrust only antagonises them and makes your job more difficult.
59. Get organised. From knowing what you are going to say, to knowing where things are stored, it pays to be organised. You will get more done in less time. Have you noticed how the most successful people in life also tend to be the highly organised?
