As we’re all aware at the moment, times are challenging. There are fewer customers about, and many of those that are have cut their spending. A number of people we’ve spoken to are keen to find ways to sharpen their selling, and improve their sales effectiveness on the phone, but have limited budgets to invest in full scale training.
So we’re planning on running a free seminar in late January 2010 for directors, senior managers and small company owners where we will offer some key tips and suggestions for making more effective use of the phone in developing sales relationships with customers. The initial seminar or free telesales workshop will be held in the East Midlands – likely to be in Leicestershire or Northamptonshire (possibly Leicester, Kettering, Northampton, or Corby).
At this stage we’re interested in knowing who would like to attend this event. Numbers are likely to be limited to 20 or so. There is a way to get an experienced telesales or telemarketing manager in your company for a fraction of the usual cost.
Many companies are facing a current situation where they want to provide strong leadership and telesales or telemarketing management for their team, but without wanting to commit to spending the £50,000 to £60,000 that it would normally cost.

Get your team to the next level with some interim management
An alternative is to hire somebody on a freelance basis to do an agreed number of days per month for you. Say you set up an agreement with someone to do 5 days per month. The required investment will be less than half what it would cost to employ someone.

Think very carefully about paying a company purely on results, (i.e. for leads or appointments only.) On the face of it this may seem like the best scheme for you, as if they don’t get results for you, you don’t pay.
However this doesn’t always work. Sometimes agencies will ‘give up’ on a project if they find it hard going, in the knowledge that they don’t stand to get paid much. So your campaign could be abandoned. Secondly you cannot budget accurately. Thirdly with payment resting on the call outcome, you can get into arguments about whether appointments were genuine or ‘shady’. If you are to build a good relationship with your agency, you want to avoid this.
Paying a company for the time they spend on your calling can reap better rewards. You can agree a budget with them, and then review how you wish to continue afterwards.
